To publish posts and Stories through ViralSpoon, your Instagram business profile and your Facebook Page need to be connected. You do the connecting itself in the Instagram app, then link it to ViralSpoon afterward in your browser. Both together take about ten minutes.
What you need first
Three prerequisites decide whether the connection succeeds. First: your Instagram account must be a business profile – private accounts can't be connected. Second: there must be a Facebook Page for your business, because Meta only allows connecting Instagram together with a Page. Third: you need administrator rights for that Facebook Page. There's no separate login for the Page itself – every Facebook Page is attached to a personal profile, which is what you use to sign in.
Step by step: connecting Instagram to your Facebook Page
- Open the Instagram app and go to Settings via the menu in the top right.
- Select Business tools and controls.
- Tap Connect a Facebook Page.
- Sign in to Facebook with the personal profile that manages the business Page.
- Select the Facebook Page you want and confirm the connection.
Your Instagram profile and Facebook Page are now linked on Meta's side. You can't publish yet, though – that takes the second part.
Connecting ViralSpoon to Meta
- In ViralSpoon, open My Account in the sidebar.
- Click Manage Meta settings. ViralSpoon redirects you to Facebook.
- Sign in with the same personal profile that manages the Facebook Page.
- Confirm the permissions. ViralSpoon needs them to publish posts and read back the metrics.
- Select the Business Portfolio with your Facebook Page and the linked Instagram account.
What is the Business Portfolio?
The Business Portfolio is the container where Meta groups your Facebook Page and your Instagram profile together. It's an internal construct – the name is never shown to your followers. For ViralSpoon it's still essential, because access rights are tied to it. If none exists yet, Meta will ask during the connection process whether one should be created. Alternatively, you can set one up in advance at business.facebook.com and then assign your Facebook Page and Instagram business profile to it.
If it doesn't work
Four causes explain most failed attempts. Check them in this order:
- Only the private profile appears, not the Facebook Page. That's normal at first: you always select the personal profile first. The Business Portfolio only appears in the next step. If that list stays empty, the portfolio is missing.
- You're not an administrator of the Facebook Page. Without administrator rights, ViralSpoon can't access the Page. Rights are granted by someone who already has them.
- No Business Portfolio has been created yet, or you don't have access to it.
- Your account has been restricted by Meta. In this case, only Meta support can help.
I can't create a Facebook Page
Often the personal profile is too new: for freshly created accounts, Meta requires a few friends before a Page can be created. Two other reasons come up as well – Meta has restricted your account, or the Page name you want violates the naming guidelines. In both cases, Meta decides, not ViralSpoon.
After connecting
Once the connection is in place, ViralSpoon publishes posts and Stories directly to Facebook and Instagram and reads back the metrics. Pay attention to Meta's format requirements: feed posts in 1:1 ratio, Reels and Stories in portrait format 9:16. The interface rejects other aspect ratios, which causes an error when publishing.
